Tell us about your family:

There are currently 7 of us. My wife, Jackie, who is amazing. And our 5 offspring ... Noa, Ruthie, Lydia, Caleb, and Benjamin (3 girls then 2 boys).

Where is your hometown?

Chucktown, baby! Born and raised in Charleston.

Briefly tell us how you came to faith in Christ:

I had faithful parents who raised me in the grace and knowledge of the Lord. In God's grace, he saved this oldest-born, people pleaser and reminded me that he is the only one worthy of worship.

What's one interesting fact about yourself?

I sat on Shamu once when I was 8. That's illegal now, so I consider it a big deal.

What's a favorite Bible verse and why?

I have been crucified with Christ, it is no longer I who live but Christ who lives in me. This life I live in the flesh I live by the faith in the one who loved me and gave himself for me. Galatians 2:2

What's your favorite...

In general, I don't like "favorite" questions and I never fill this out. But since this is being required of me ...

Movie?  "What about Bob?" Gotta support Bill Murray if you are from Charleston. And it's one of the best movies ever.

Book?  I seriously don't know the answer to this. I rarely re-read books. I really loved reading "Studies in the Sermon on the Mount" by Martyn Lloyd-Jones. As a communicator, I also loved "Made to Stick" by the Heath Brothers.

Food?  Indian

Athletic team?  Whoever is the underdog. And the USA -- when it is the Olympics or the World Cup?

Place to visit?  With Jackie ... going any place new.

Band?  I can't even answer this. It implies that I'm a groupie and I'm certainly not. The Jason Cook band rocks it out on most Sundays at JICC, and I like them. Also, my wife singing and playing the piano is basically heaven on earth. I guess I am a groupie!

Activity for day off?  Non-restful, but still joyful day off: hanging out with my family at home.  Restful, and very joyful day off: going out to breakfast with Jackie.

What are your hopes for JICC?

Ephesians 4:11-16 11 And he gave the apostles, the prophets, theevangelists, the shepherds[c] and teachers,[d] 12 to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, 13 until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood,[e] to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, 14 so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes. 15 Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, 16 from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.

AND

Ephesians 3:10-12, 20-21 10 so that through the church the manifold wisdom of God might now be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly places. 11 This was according to the eternal purpose that he has realized in Christ Jesus our Lord, 12 in whom we have boldness and access with confidence through our faith in him. ... 20 Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, 21 to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
