The parables of Jesus are stories that contain an abundance of wisdom in a very understandable narrative.  The simplicity of the stories can sometimes deceive people into thinking that the lessons are simple.  But this couldn't be further from the truth.  In order to anchor ourselves in the lessons from this text, take time to re-read Mark 4:1-20.

Discuss the 4 places that the seed could be sown:
1. Path:
- (Re-read Revelation 12:10-11)
- Contrast the voice of the Accuser and the voice of the Father.

2. Rocky ground:
- Where have you heard about, witnessed, or experienced persecution or tribulation on account of the word?
- Have you witnessed other people receive the word of God with joy only to fall away when difficult time comes?
- During your lifetime, in what ways do you anticipate life being more difficult for followers of Jesus?  How are you preparing for that?

3. Thorns:
- Review the statements representing the thorns -- which one do you identify with the most?
- Now consider Jesus (as the King, as the Judge, and as the Bridegroom). How can a desire for Jesus be more primary in your life?  In your family?  In the church?

4. Good Soil:
How do the elements of Revelation 12:10-11 challenge you to have a life that is good soil for the word of God to be planted?

Pray.  Pray for our lives to be good soil.  Pray for the lives of people that we are sharing the gospel with to be good soil.  Pray for a harvest:  30, 60, and 100 fold.

(This is a PG-13 sermon. Use discretion if listening to it around children.)
