Sermon Notes
Key Passage: John 14:1-4
“Jesus knew how to transform the molecular structure of water to wine. He took a few pieces of bread and some little fish and fed thousands of people. He knew how to transform tissues of the human body from sickness to health and death to life. He knew how to suspend gravity, interrupt weather patterns, and eliminate unfruitful trees without saw or axe. He only needed a word. And one of the greatest testimonies of His intelligence is surely that He knew how to enter physical death, actually to die, and then live beyond death. He seized death by the throat and defeated it! He is now supervising the entire course of world history while simultaneously preparing the rest of the universe for our future role in it.” -Dallas Willard, Divine Conspiracy
“’My Father’s House’ refers to heaven, and in Heaven are many rooms, many dwelling places. The point is not the lavishness of each apartment, but the fact that such ample provision has been made that there is more than enough space for every one of Jesus’ disciples to join Him in His Father’s home.” -D.A. Carson, commentary on John 14
“In the midst of the awesomeness, a touch comes, and you know it is the right hand of Jesus Christ. You know it is not the hand of restraint, correction, nor chastisement, but the right hand of the Everlasting Father. Whenever His Hand is laid upon you, it gives inexpressible peace and comfort, and the sense that ‘underneath are the everlasting arms,’ (Deuteronomy 33:27) full of support, provision, comfort and strength.” -Oswald Chambers
