Discussion Questions
- What does the provision for unintentional sins say about the nature of sin and the nature of God?
- Can you think of times that you sinned unintentionally? Share some examples.
- Where are the places in your life right now where you are most tempted to grumble? Consider how you could exchange that for thanksgiving. Make a list (like actually write it down and say it out loud to someone else) of things that you are thankful for related to that area. Reread Ephesians 5:5-12 for context.
- Re-read 1 John 1:5-2:2. Is there any sin that you need to bring to light through confession? Do that. Then allow God to remind you that he is “faithful and just to forgive you and to cleanse (purify) you from all unrighteousness (1:9). Practice this with a close friend or spouse. One of you make a confession, the other read 1:9 out loud as a reminder of God’s faithfulness to forgive.
