Discussion Questions

3DQ - 3 discipleship questions to ask each other: What is God saying to you? What are you going to do about it? How can I help?

  1. What did the Holy Spirit highlight to you in the passage or the sermon?
  2. Matthew 28:19 says “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations...”
    1. What does it mean to “make disciples”?
    2. What do you think Jesus had in mind when He said “all nations”?
  3. Ephesians 1:8-10 says, “With all wisdom and understanding, he made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ, to be put into effect when the times reach their fulfillment—to bring unity to all things in heaven and on earth under Christ.” What is this “mystery” Paul is referring to?
  4. How would you summarize the over-arching meta-narrative of the Bible?
  5. How does this meta-narrative change the way we read, understand, and apply the Bible to our lives?
  6. Relook at some of the more common stories of the Bible and re-identify God’s master plan revealed in those stories. Consider the following stories:
    1. David & Goliath
    2. Noah & the Ark
    3. Jonah & the Whale
    4. Use any other stories that come up in your group.
  7. Do you understand Matthew 28:18-20 as a suggestion or a command? How does this work itself out in your everyday life?
  8. Romans 10: 14-15 says, “How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: 'How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!'” What does “preaching and speaking” the Gospel look like in today’s age? Share examples and testimonies.
  9. We are all called to preach the good news, but some are called to physically go to the nations. Do you feel called to “go” to the nations or do you feel called to “send” others through resourcing, prayer, and support?
