1. What did the Holy Spirit highlight to you in the passage or the sermon?

2. Vs44 says, “But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,..”
a. Who are the enemies of the Church?
b. Who is an ‘enemy’ in your life right now?
c. Why does Jesus invite us to pray for our enemies? What is significant about this?
 
3. Vs46 says, “46 If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? 47 And if you greet only your own people, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that?”
a. Christ followers are called to love - we love 1) those in the church, 2) those outside of the church who are neutral toward us, 3) those outside of the church who actively dislike and even hate us. What does Christ-like love in these 3 categoes look like?
b. How does Luke 10:25-37 help us define what this love could look like?
 
4. Romans 5:10 and Colossians 1:21 tells us we were enemies of God. Describe what this means? Why is this such a serious condition?
 
5. How does the Gospel-story and our own personal Gospel-experience, empower us to live out Jesus call in Matthew 5? Describe the difference between ‘man-empowered-effort’ verses ‘Gospel-empowered-effort’.
