Sermon Notes
Key Passage: Matthew 7:7-11
Romans 8:15
James 4:8
1 Thessalonians 5:17
Romans 8:32
Romans 8:34
1. The purpose of prayer (fellowship with our father)
2. The persistence of prayer (don’t stop praying)
3. The promise of prayer (every prayer finds its yes and amen in Jesus)
4. The power of prayer (prayer moves the slender nerve of God’s omnipotence)
5. The practicals of prayer (lets help each other grow in prayer)
1. God doesn’t count your words against you.
2. God doesn’t count your age against you.
3. God calls us to both personal and public prayer.
“Prayer is simply personal communication from us to God. Prayer expresses our trust in God and is a means whereby our trust in him can increase. Praying to God builds our depth of trust in him and makes us dependent on God, which is what a healthy and life-giving creature-creator relationship should look like. Likewise, prayer brings us into deeper fellowship with God, and he loves us and delights in our fellowship with him. Praying to God is a way of loving God and experiencing his love in return.” - Wayne Grudem
“I don’t often spend more than 30mins in prayer at one time, but I never go more than 30mins without praying.” - Smith Wigglesworth
“Prayer is the slender nerve that moves the muscle of God’s omnipotence.” - Charles Spurgeon
“To desire revival… and at the same time to neglect prayer and devotion is to wish one way and walk another.” - A.W. Tozer
“Our prayers may be awkward. Our attempts may be feeble. But since the power of prayer is in the one who hears it and not in the one who says it, our prayers do make a difference.” - Max Lucado
“Prayer does not equip us for some greater works - prayer is the greater work.” - Oswald Chambers
