FOUNDATIONS COURSE

Over the years of our church, we have had various classes and resources that we have used in our mission to make disciples of Jesus, to bring people into maturity in Christ, and practically, to bring people into membership at JICC.  For the last couple of years, the elders have discussed the need for a longer and more intentional process of receiving new members and more thoroughly instructing in sound doctrine in areas that we previously skimmed in the membership class.  We are excited to be launching Part 1 of this new course.

What do we hope to accomplish?

Establish or re-establish strong foundations in our personal faith and our understanding of church and our calling to make disciples among all people.

Unify the people of our church around shared doctrine for future work of discipleship and multiplication.

Who is the course for?

Bottom line: Everyone. But here is how some specific groups will benefit from it.
  • New people at JICC: This will serve as our expanded membership class and give you a thorough overview of what we believe.
  • For those who have joined the church in the past couple of years: This content will dive deeper into some of the things that were only briefly addressed in the membership class.
  • New believers and those coming out of the Alpha program: This is an important next step in learning about what it means to follow Jesus together as his church.
  • Leaders (home group leaders, worship leaders, etc.): This will be so helpful as you lead people and will also help you serve the elders in testing the new content and providing feedback to improve the process.

What is the format of the class?

You will watch a teaching before class (1 - 1.5 hours) and then come prepared to discuss, ask questions, and receive supporting information during the live class hour.

Is there childcare?

Yes, childcare from birth to 5th grade is available during both class times. Please sign up in advance so that we can prepare to care for your kids. Teenagers are encouraged to attend along with their parents or can request to assist with childcare if they already serve in this area.
