Jesus Calls Disciples

Scriptures:
John 1:19-51
John 6:44, 15:15
Romans 8:35-39

Questions for reflection:
1. Consider John’s claim that Jesus is “the Lamb of God that takes away the sins of the world.” Read the account of the first passover from Exodus 12. How does the understanding of this story from Israel’s history shape John’s claim about Jesus?

2. Jesus said to Nathaniel, “I saw you.” When have you recognized that Jesus saw you and knew you? How did he do this? How is he continuing to do this through his Word and through the body of Christ?

3. In he passage today, Phillip tells Nathaniel to “come and see.” As we consider these words, how are you modeling this with your neighbors, friends, and family who are “far from God but close to you”? In what ways are you challenged to do this more? Consider John 6:34 and John 15:15. How do those words strengthen your efforts in speaking about and demonstrating the love of Jesus to others?
