Values of Order + Freedom
1 Corinthians 14:40
40 But all things should be done decently and in order.

2 Corinthians 3:17
17 Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. 18 And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit

ACT

Discussion Questions

  1. Read back through 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 very slowly. Think about each word. What word or phrase is God shining a light on for you? Why? What are you going to do in response to that?
  2. Love does not envy or boast. We are always tempted to think too highly or too lowly of ourselves. In what area of your life are you tempted to think too highly of yourself? Too lowly? What relationships do you think are affected by this mindset? In what ways can you “put on love” in those relationships? (Colossians 3:12-14)
  3. God is patient with us. Re-read 2 Peter 3:9. What is the significance of God’s patience for the unbeliever? What about for the believer? Where has God shown you his patience in slowly brining your to repentance in a particular area of your life? How can you extend that to others?
  4. Work through the ACT steps above a few times in a particular area of your life. Then work it through out loud with a friend, spouse, or close friend.
